Today I wanted to share my World Diabetes Day (day) and what I did to raise a little awareness. On WDD I felt particularly motivated and encouraged to share what diabetes means to me, how it affects me and how I manage it. I saw so many positive posts, tweets, pictures, blogs, events, fundraisers etc, that I couldn't help but get a little giddy with excitement.
I decided that my awareness plan would be actioned on Facebook.
Whereas my twitter account is primarily used to talk about diabetes, my Facebook account tends to be updated with a random splattering of pictures, or a shared link of something that's made me laugh that day. I don't have a huge amount of Facebook friends, but the people I do have on there are people that I actually talk to on a regular basis or see in person. Long gone are the days of accepting friend requests just to appear popular...
I do post about diabetes in general on Facebook, but I rarely share information or details about my diabetes... This meant that I had the perfect opportunity to tell my friends about what it's like to live with Type 1 on an average day. I even made 2 vlogs, and I'm really pleased I did :)
It went a little something like this....
And finally my WDD finished yesterday when I did a fundraiser with a local diabetes charity - Diabetes Research Wellness Foundation..
